19th November 2021 Technical Visioning Day

The technical visioning date is a chance for Bristol City Council departments, statutory stakeholders (such as the Environment Agency and Historic England) and representatives from the Western Harbour Advisory Group to engage with the outcomes of the public engagement to date. Outcomes of the day will be included in the exhibition open to all.

20th November 2021 Visioning Day

There will be several workshops running throughout the Visioning Day. You can book a place on the workshops via the links below. If you’re unable to book a place on a workshop, you can drop in at any point over the course of the day or at any time between 22nd November – 17th December (weekdays only) when the exhibition will be open to all.

We would encourage anyone attending the Visioning Day or exhibition to wear a mask and take a lateral flow test prior to arrival to help keep everyone safe.

Explore Western Harbour through words and rhythm. Bristol City Poet Caleb Parkin will lead you through a poetry making hour helping you to capture your ideas and emotions on the future of Western Harbour.

20th November 2021 Place Workshops with Turner Works

Discuss and develop the themes and place principles which will shape the future of Western Harbour through a workshop with architects Turner Works. Take the eight key themes developed through the public engagement to date, pick your favourite theme, match it to local, national and international precedent places and collectively create a collage to represent a vision for the future.

20th November 2021 Harbour Hopes – Guided walks around Western Harbour with Bristol Civic Society

Explore the Western Harbour area by joining this circular walk led by Bristol Civic Society. Starting at the Create Centre, the route will include some of the area’s most important views, the working harbour, Cumberland Basin, the Bond warehouses, Underfall Yard, Ashton Road bridge, Sylvia Crowe’s landscape and the Wessex Water Pumping Station. Distance approx. 1.5 miles. Terrain – hard surfaces, mostly flat but with two footbridges to cross. Care needed as high unprotected drops adjacent to the locks and river. Toilets available at the Create Centre.

20th November - 17th December 2021 Exhibition designed to build a ‘place-shaping vision’ and steer the future plans for Western Harbour
  • Share your hopes for what the western end of Bristol’s Floating Harbour could be.
  • Reflect on the emerging themes from engagement so far, and whether they capture the area’s spirit.
  • Consider how these themes could be used to guide the positive changes we want to see and help us build a set of principles or ‘place principles’ for the future.
The exhibition was staffed by BCC officers on 23rd November 10am – 7pm , 25th November 10am – 4pm, 29th November 10am – 4pm, 2nd December 10am – 7pm, and the 9th December 10am - 3pm.
